Charles M. Matthews, 71 of Somers, beloved husband of Marcia E. (Smalley) Matthews, died Monday (April 18, 2016) at Blair Manor in Enfield. Born on June 25, 1944 in Stafford, son of the late Frederick and Florence (Ingraham) Matthews. Before retiring he was a self-employed auto body repair company for many years. He enjoyed racing cars, watching NASCAR and fishing. In addition to his wife, Marcia, he leaves, four children, Marci Worthington and her husband, Bruce of Enfield, Christopher Matthews and his fiancee' Tamatha Race of Stafford, Mary-Ann Hally-Matthews and her wife, Jennifer of Wallingford and Corey M. Matthews of Franklin, NH; siblings, Alma Tetro, Nancy Bridges, Ralph Stolze, Graham Matthews and Bruce Matthews; nine grandchildren, Morgan, Tucker, Cooper and Tristan Worthington, Taylor Matthews and Benjamin Hally, Aubrey Ennis, Benjamin and Cameron Race, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by a son, Charles M. ‘Chad” Matthews Jr., and a brother, Bob Stolze.
His family will receive friends on Friday, April 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main Street, Somers. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Masonic Health Care, 22 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford, CT 06492.
