Jean Esther (Leach) Schermerhorn, 91, of Enfield and loving wife of the late Maurice Schermerhorn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, with her family by her side. Jean was born May 31, 1925, in the Thompsonville section of Enfield the daughter of the late James and Esther (Steele) Leach. She leaves a son, Lee Schermerhorn and his wife, Connie. Kurt Schermerhorn a son and devoted caretaker for the past eleven years. Her daughter, Nancy Haase of Broad Brook who brought such joy and love to Jean's life. Jean is also survived by her four grandchildren, Kerri St. Pierre and her husband, Tim of Sutton, MA, Brian Schermerhorn and his wife, Kate of Suffield, Elisha Jezek and her husband, Jesse of Avon, Erica Light and her husband, Rob of Enfield; her beloved 11 great grandchildren, Giselle, John, Cole, Noah, Carter, Addison, Wesley, Ryan, Leah, Faith and Hudson. In addition to her husband she was also predeceased by a brother, Herbert Leach and her son-in-law, Ken Haase. There are no calling hours. A funeral service in celebration of Jean's life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 3 pm at the Enfield Congregational Church, 1295 Enfield St., Enfield. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, c/o Love for Leah, 35 Cold Spring Rd. # 411 Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or to Enfield Loaves and Fishes P.O.
