Dorothy Marie Mandirola, 90, of Windsor Locks, beloved wife of the late Thomas Mandirola passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. She was born on July 31, 1926, in New Haven, CT; daughter of the late Perry and Orelena (Bushnell) Ponzio. Dorothy was a resident of Windsor Locks for over 65 years, she was a communicant of St. Mary Church and was employed by Travelers Insurance Company for 25 years. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and baking. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Barberi and her husband James of East Windsor; a brother Morris Pennington of East Haven and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Dorothy was predeceased by two brothers, Perry Ponzio and Paul Ponzio and two sisters, Louise LaFrance and Georginna Sgombatto. Relatives and friends may join the family for a visiting hour on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT. Burial will immediately follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Dorothy's family wishes the extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Touchpoints at Chestnut for the care they provided during the past two years.
