Artheline E.  Girardin (Dubay)
Artheline “Artie” (Dubay) Girardin, 96, of Windsor Locks, CT, passed away peacefully at home Friday March 17, 2017, with her family and caretakers by her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Gaston “Gus” Girardin. Born in Van Buren, ME February 6, 1921, Artie was a daughter to the late Leon and Annie Dubay. Artie was a stay at home mom, and then returned to work when her children started school. In 1972, she and her family moved to Windsor Locks from Hartford, where she became a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed socializing at the Donut Kettle and meeting Gus there for their daily breakfast. She also enjoyed bowling in a league with her friends. Artie enjoyed traveling with Gus to far away places such as Monte Carlo, France and Hawaii. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was a loving and dominant figure in their lives. She was also blessed with two great-grand children, whom she adored. Artie leaves her son, Daniel and his wife Susan, a daughter Gail and her husband Richard O’Neill all of Windsor, CT; grandchildren Kimberly Rogers and her husband Isaac, of Nashville, TN, Ross Girardin of Simsbury, CT, Allison O’Neill of Massachusetts and Kevin O’Neill of Windsor, CT; great-grandchildren Chase Rogers and Samantha Rogers of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by her sisters Julietta Laraia of West Hartford, CT, Theresa Smiarowski and Jean Mitera both of Plainville, CT; brothers Emery Dubay, of Florida, Guy Dubay of East Hartford, CT and Robert Dubay of Maine, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by four brothers and nine sisters. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private burial service for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Mary’s Church 45 Church St. Windsor Locks, CT 06096. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Windsor Locks Funeral Home.
