Obituary for Barbara Simienski (Donihee)

Barbara Simienski (Donihee)
I, Barbara Jane (Donihee) Simienski, was born on April 3, 1933, the fifth child of Henry Patrick and Elmyra (Cramer) Donihee in Fort Covington, NY. I graduated from Ellsworth Memorial High School in South Windsor, CT in June of 1951, and then married Stanley Joseph Simienski on May 24, 1952, at St. Mary Church in Windsor Locks. We were married 32 years at the time of his death on July 24, 1984. I received by first wristwatch (from Stanley) on December 25, 1950 (I still have it!). The back was engraved "to Jane from Stanley with Love 12-25-50". Stanley and I ran a farm on Prospect Hill in Warehouse Point for the first twenty-five years of our married life. Many of my siblings children worked for us. We raised tobacco, beef cattle (black angus), dairy cattle and vegetables. In 1977, we moved to Ellington where I still reside. I have made many trips to Florida and three to Hawaii, both very beautiful places that I enjoyed visiting, but would never want to live there. I really enjoy having four seasons a year. I treasured the closeness I had with my brothers and sisters and all their children. The youth of today would be truly blessed to have the love and respect for their family that all of the 8D's share together with their siblings. I really feel that I have been blessed in my lifetime. My life has been happy and content. I can't recall any hardship worth mentioning. I have been blessed with a good husband, good health, much happiness, and of course, good looks!!! Barbara Jane Simienski passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Barbara is survived by her sister Jenn Ann Delton, brother Tony Demasterantonio and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers Patrick Donihee, Jack Donihee, and Gary Donihee, and three sisters Sally McMahon, Joan Hodder and Grace Wrana. Relatives and friends may join the family during calling hours on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
