Obituary for Stella T. Dynia (Swist)

Stella T. Dynia (Swist)
Stella T. Dynia, (93), of Enfield, beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Dynia, entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Suffield House with her family by her side. Born in Thompsonville, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Katherine (Kedzior) Swist. Stella was a 1941 graduate of Enfield High School. After graduation, Stella commuted daily by train from Thompsonville to Hartford where she first worked at CT General Insurance Company. She later worked at WT Grant Co. and retired from the State of Connecticut after working in the office of the Department of Correction. Stella always enjoyed working, and established many lifelong friendships with her coworkers. Stella and her late husband, Stanley were married in 1947 in St. Adalbert Church in Thompsonville, and celebrated their 68th anniversary together in 2015. Stella was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox. She also was a devoted fan of UConn Women’s Basketball, and was especially happy to witness them win championships in San Antonio and New Orleans with dear friends Marge and Ernie Avery. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors. Above all Stella loved to be of help to her family, neighbors and friends in any way she could, and was a devoted caregiver to her sister Jane for many years. While Stella was always an industrious and busy person, she and her husband were fortunate to be able to spend many winters in the Sunshine State enjoying the beach and the company of friends. Stella and Stan were talented polka dancers and never missed an opportunity to dance together along with their many friends to their favorite polka bands whether in Connecticut, Massachusetts or Florida. Stella also was a longtime member of the Polish Women's Junior League. She is survived by her children Stanley Dynia and wife Moira of Enfield, Michael Dynia and wife Jill of Enfield, Jeffrey Dynia and wife Cate of East Granby, and Patty Bellon and husband Rick of Port Charlotte, FL, grandchildren Sarah Dynia and Kevin Dynia, step-grandchildren Bobbi Blanchard and Mandy Olson of Wisconsin, and six step-great-grandchildren. Stella also leaves her sister, Helen Aquilio and husband Nazz of Enfield, sister in law Helen Kokofski and husband Stanley, and cousin Edward Kot and wife Phyllis. Stella also leaves behind nephews, nieces and many friends who helped enrich her life. She was predeceased by her sister Jane Swist. Stella’s family gratefully acknowledges all of the staff at Eagle Pointe and Suffield House for their wonderful care, and for the kindness and friendship they bestowed upon Stella and us during her time with them there. Visitation hours for Stella will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels. Family and friends will gather at Leete-Stevens on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. for a procession to St. Bernard Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Committal will follow at St. Adalbert's Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Saint Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082.
